Leon Silvers, LMHC, is a New York and Rhode Island licensed individual, group, and couple’s psychotherapist, Somatic Coach, and Psychedelic Support Specialist. He has been in the field of mental health for over 20 years. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, summa cum laude from Georgia State University and his Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from New York University. Leon is a clinical supervisor for other psychotherapists and provides trainings and workshops on Psychedelic-Assisted therapy. His clinical approach is trauma informed and eclectic, incorporating elements of the numerous modalities he has trained in and practiced.
He has earned post-graduate certification, licenses, and training in numerous therapeutic modalities including Internal Family Systems therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, psychedelic-assisted therapy, NeuroAffective Touch, EMDR, drama therapy, psychodrama, shamanism, Yoga, and hypnotherapy. He is the creator of Drag Therapy, an expressive art therapy allowing participants to explore and embody the various aspects of themselves through costume and movement.
Leon has provided numerous trainings and workshops around the world for non-profit and corporate organizations, colleges, universities, and medical and psychological treatment centers. He has published articles on a wide variety of topics including trauma, gender, and eating disorders. Leon's wide clinical experience includes working with patients from many racial and ethnic backgrounds, ages, religions, disabilities, gender, and sexual orientation. Some of his clinical experiences have been as a full-time psychotherapist at various mental health clinics providing individual, group, couple, and family psychotherapy to adults and adolescents; providing life coaching services for clients around the country; working in outpatient substance abuse organizations; and has served as the Clinical Director of Identity House, a non-profit LGBT service organization. He has been in private practice for the past 14 years.
